English as Second Language Track

(ESL/I thru ESL/VI, 144 hrs)

A six level track for non-English speaking students who need improvement in speaking English proficiently. Students will learn the basics of the English language with particular focus on conversational skills and practical English terms to equip them in functioning comfortably on a daily basis.

Courses include both writing (phrases, sentences and grammar) and reading. Take advantage of this wonderful and affordable opportunity! Prerequisite : None


Singular ESL Courses

IESL/I (32 hrs): Learn basic pronunciation of words, writing and speaking simple sentences.

Prerequisite : none

ESL/II (32 hrs): Learn more extensive basic conversational skills, simple sentence structures, reading and writing.

Prerequisite : Completion of ESL/I

ESL/III (32 hrs): Learn even more extensive basic vocabulary, listening comprehension, writing and speaking skills.

Prerequisite : Completion of ESL/II

ESL/IV (32 hrs): Learn listening comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, reading comprehension, and writing composition. A starter course for TOEFL Exam

Prerequisite : Completion of ESL/III

ESL/V (32 hrs): Learn more extensive listening comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, reading comprehension, and writing composition. A mid-level course for TOEFL Exam.

Prerequisite: Completion of ESL/IV

ESL/VI (32hrs): Learn even more extensive listening comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, reading comprehension, and writing composition. A final review of all topics studied so far.

Prerequisite: Completion of ESL/V

ESL American History* (ESL/AH, 32 hrs): Learn to speak and understand English while you study the history of United States. Learn about American culture, customs, and traditions.

Prerequisite: Basic conversational skills

ESL Bible* (ESL /BBL, 24 hrs): Learn to listen and speak English using the modern Living Bible as a text. This is a

unique but proven method that makes learning English more interesting.

Prerequisite: Basic English Comprehension

Beginning Computer Track

 This is a must for beginners! Learn the basics of hardware, software, Windows 98 operating system, Internet and e-mail.

(CMP/I thru CMP/III, 72 hrs): Covers Windows navigation, customizing desktops, screen savers, creating shortcuts, installing/removing software, CDs, file management, and much more. Learn how to use the Internet: search for information, create an e-mail account, send and receive e-mails, uploading e-mail attachments, instant messaging, upload and download, and much more.

Prerequisite: No experience necessary. This is a beginning level class.


Intensive ESL Programs for Teens

Two-Month Intensive ESL and Culture Training Course

Computer Courses

Instructions in application programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and FrontPage Web Editor. Includes the advanced features of Microsoft Office. Students may prepare for the Microsoft Office Certification through these courses.

Computer Basic I (CMP/I, 24 hrs): Learn basic overview of computer functions and operations such as Windows XP, Internet, etc.

Prerequisite: No experience necessary. This is a beginning level class

Computer Basic II (CMP/II, 24 hrs): Learn more in-depth review of internet operation and other functions of the computer. Learnthe basic overview of Microsoft Office, which includes Excel, Word, Front Page, and Access.

Microsoft Word & Excel (CMP/WE, 24 hrs): Learn the basics of Microsoft Word. Includes creating documents, inserting pictures, setting tabs, changing margins, adding page numbering, mailing labels, creating and formatting spreadsheets, performing math calculations, using 3D spreadsheets, database management, and creating graphs, plus more.

Compute Basic II (CMP/II: PowerPoint): MS PowerPoint (CMP/PP, 24 hrs): Learn the introductory features of PowerPoint. Topics include: creating presentations; working with slide masters; working with visual elements, such as how to add clip art and how to draw shapes; adding and changing Toolbars; modifying Templates; changing Background Objects and Shading; defining Text Styles for Templates; creating distinctive text with WordArt; organizing ClipArt Gallery; inserting pictures without Placeholders; using graphics from other presentations; creating animated slides; preparing presentations with branching and hidden slides; creating Notes Pages and Audience Handouts; using the PowerPoint viewer; creating and running Play Lists.

Prerequisite: Completion of CMP/I or basic Windows skills

Multimedia & Internet (CMP/MI, 24 hrs): Learn to use scanners, digital cameras and how to edit images. Learn about the basics in designing websites.

MS FrontPage I (CMP/FPI, 24 hrs): Learn the basic overview of professionally designing websites using the popular web-editor, FrontPage.
